Zhujiajiao

Compared with Zhouzhuang and West Pool, Zhua Jiajiao is more like the qualified back garden of Shanghai. Convenient traffic can take the whole family from the noisy city to the quiet and lively ancient town to enjoy themselves for sometime.

The brook streams silently in the ancient town; it is the shelter bridges and stone arch bridges that are accompanying it. Nine long streets are built along the river, and stones, tiles and walls of the ports demonstrate the tranquil, remote environment and customs of a land full of waters in Ming and Qing Dynasties everywhere. The “freeing bridge”, built in the middle of Qing Dynasty, was the representative architecture of Zhu Jiajiao. There is no river so wide and no stone bridge so huge in other ancient towns.

Qingpu Museum

Qingpu Museum, founded in October, 1958 in Qingpu’s Town God Temple, has a collection about 10,000 pieces. The new Qingpu Museum, designed by the famous architect Xin Tonghe, is about 8800 m2large in construction space, situated at the Songze Square of Qingpu district. The architecture, composed by five interlocked oval cylinders and constructed with modern architectural materials, looks like a flying butterfly.
